Book Review: The Christie Affair by Nina De Gramont

As an avid lover of Agatha Christie’s novels I had to pick this book up. Agatha Christie is very well known for her mystery novels following Miss Marple or Hercule Poirot. So a mystery including the Agatha Christie herself was hugely intriguing.

“In 1926, Agatha Christie disappeared for eleven days. Only I know the truth of her disappearance.” The story follows the point of view of Nan, the mistress of Archibald Christie, Agatha’s husband. Flitting between her past and the present, where Agatha is missing. Throughout these eleven days events unfold that throw light on Agatha’s disappearance as well as Nan’s secret past.

This was a truly intriguing story about two different women leading completely different lives that intertwine. Full of love, heartache, loss, sacrifice and the most powerful, a woman scorned. I felt sympathy for both of Nan and Agatha during this book, both being wronged in an undeniably heart wrenching way, with Nan living through many terrible events during her younger life and Agatha having her life completely shattered in a matter of moments. Despite the conflict between the two, through unlikely events they become allies which made the story even more compelling.

If you enjoy Agatha Christie’s novels I would definitely recommend reading The Christie Affair.
