Customer review of “Rewitched” by Lucy Jane Wood

We offered an advanced copy of up coming release “Rewitched” to our customer Kiera in exchange for a review. Read on to see what she had to say.

“Rewitched is a cosy autumnal fantasy which feels like a blend of the classic TV show Charmed and everyone's favourite autumn show Gilmore Girls (although the UK version, as this is where the book is set). The hardback of the book comes out on the 19th September, perfect for those who love a book about witches set around Halloween. I cannot wait for you to stay up all night reading and loving this book as much as I did.

“We begin with Belladonna Blackthorn, a thirty-year-old witch, who is at risk from losing her magic due to her insecurities as a witch. To keep them she must prove herself worthy to herself and her coven by completing a series of magical trials, or risk losing her magic forever. However, with dark magic and an unknown villain trying to sabotage, Belle will need all the help she can get. Belle relies on the help of her mother Bonnie, a witch herself, her new mentor Artorius, who was my favourite and her Watchman, Rune.

“I really loved this book, the perfect blend of cosy fantasy and autumnal witches set around Halloween. The author, Lucy Jane Wood, explores themes that resonate with many 30 year olds who feel they've not ticked all the boxes they'd have liked to. Our main character Belle has issues believing in herself, giving us a story full of lessons about self love and identity, connection and the fear of failure. Belles found family and their endearing support of Belle while she reconnects with her magic, makes for a full brilliant read.

“I really enjoyed how the trials were added and used. They really helped the plot move along, link the past and present and added tension due to the countdown. The romance element was a bonus to the story and I loved that it was slow-burn. I’m grateful that the overall story was more about Belle and her relationship with herself and her magic than about their relationship. I hope the next book continues on regarding the ending and that we get some romantic moments between them in the next one too. This certainly sets us up for the next book in Belle’s life, and how the ending will impact it. Overall this book is perfect for the cosy autumn reads that are in abundance this time of year. This one needs to go at the very top of the list. Not one to miss.”

Rewitched is out in hardback on 19th September.
