I’ve recently found a new love for books with gothic atmosphere in a whole range of genres and unfortunately it seems like there aren’t too many books in that area but I’ve been fortunate to find a few great gems in the ones that I have read.

Reading is my favourite hobby. I have others but reading takes priority every time. However for some reason or other, I hit a wall and can’t seem to read anything which leads me to having multiple books on the go and not finishing any of them which then adds to the stress of trying to read and finish a book, especially if it’s a book I need to read for book club.

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus has been extremely popular recently. Quite a few customers have come in and raved about this book and usually when a book is constantly talked about and hyped up, it tends to put me off reading it but I couldn’t resist picking it up.

A lot of books these days, if they are well received, get thrown all over social media such as TikTok, YouTube and Instagram and because of the hype that pushes these books to the forefront of everyone’s eyes and sometimes they just aren’t as good as you expect. So here are some books that may have gone under your radar.

Graphic Novels can be a great way to get your children interested in reading or to continue reading after losing interest. Graphic Novels tend to be visually interesting and stimulating and so may be more likely to capture and keep their attention than a chapter book. We have a small range of children’s Graphic Novels from laughing out loud with animals dealing with a human invasion or solving a mystery with Investi-Gators to taking flight with a dragon to end a war between tribes and fulfilling a mysterious prophecy.

Typically you’ll find me reading Sci-fi Fantasy. However every now and then I fancy something different, usually something a little easier to read than my go to genre. Another fact is I usually go on and on about how I hate romance but here I am reviewing a romance novel. It’s funny how these things happen…..
